On this second ecritoire Therese wrote the documents that express her mature spirituality: Story of a Soul; her letters, including all the letters to her priest-brothers; 16 of her 21 prayers, including the "Offering of myself as a victim of holocaust to Merciful Love"; and seven of her eight religious plays.
First, beginning in January 1895, she used it to compose all three of the autobiographical manuscripts later published as Story of a Soul. How these came to be written is a story in itself. Her last 95 letters, including LT 197, the important letter of September 17, 1896 to her sister, Marie of the Sacred Heart, and all her letters to her missionary brothers, Maurice Belliere and Adolphe Roulland.
