At least 500 people venerated the writing-desk of St. Therese after the 5:15 p.m. Mass in the crypt of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. on October 3, 2013.

Tomorrow the desk returns to the Discalced Carmelite nuns, Therese's own order, at their monastery in St. Louis.

The Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States has announced that the writing-desk of St. Therese of Lisieux will be present at the celebration of the 2013 Worldwide Children's Eucharistic Holy Hour at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. on Friday, October 4. EWTN will broadcast the event live from the Basilica to more than 140 nations.
New: The writing-desk will be available for veneration the preceding evening, Thursday, October 4, at the 5:15 p.m. Mass at the Basilica.
