Pope John Paul II visits Lisieux, June 2, 1980
Early in his papacy John Paul II made a pastoral visit to Lisieux. He prayed in the infirmary where Therese died, spoke to contemplative nuns in the chapel of the Carmel, and celebrated Mass on the esplanade of the Basilica of St. Therese.

Especially for thereseoflisieux.org, M. Yves Jeanmougin kindly created a gallery of his remarkable photos of Pope John Paul II's visit to Lisieux on June 2, 1980. I thank him for creating this gallery and for permitting me to display it.
You may read the French text of the Pope's homily at the Mass he offered and the French text of his remarks to the contemplative women religious who gathered in the chapel of the Lisieux Carmel.
